    The programme is offered over a duration of 12 Months (one Year) The classes are offered during the week on full time/ online and part time basis on Saturday. You will be placed within our partner organisations for your practical training and work integrated learning, or you can choose an accredited facility of your own, the College has the right to approve such facility at its own discretion.

  • Description

    HPO is a new profession in the health sector in South Africa and it deals primarily with the prevention of diseases and improving lifestyles. A blend of theory and practical training, the Health Promotional Officer is a QCTO accredited occupational qualification with the course breakdown being 25% knowledge, 38% practical skills and 37% workplace experience.

  • Admission requirements

    Grade 12 Certificate / Matric Grade 9 – 11 (but if you do not have a National Senior Certificate, you will need to complete a Foundational Learning Competence Certificate) OR Ancillary Health Care NQF Level 1

  • Textbooks and Log- Books

    Prescribed textbooks and logbooks are provided by the college. Students will receive printed versions of the study guides for this programmes. All prescribed books and log-books fees are included in tuition fee.

  • Assessments and Certification

    Internal assessment and formative assessments for Knowledge modules will be ongoing, including practical and work integrated learning experience. Ithemba Training College will ensure that the learners are prepared well and made ready to sit for the QCTO Final External assessment. External Assessment: Student will write a compulsory External Integrated Summative Assessment (EISA) approved by the QCTO at the end of the course. On successful completion of the programme, the student will receive a Certificate in Health Promotion Officer, Level 3, from Quality Council For Trades & Occupations (QCTO).

    c) Latest School Results e.g. Matric Certificate, Statement of results etc.
    d) Proof of residence
    e) 2x reams copy paper (500 sheets each)
